Speed limiter in pure mode?

I have had tons of issues with my XC90 recharge. Now I'm getting engine lights that the mechanics can't figure out what it's for. The main issue is when I hit 80mph or so on pure mode, it caps my speed. It doesn't switch over to combustion mode either. The mechanics say it never does that in pure mode, and it's supposed to cap my speed. Anyone have experience with this?
